What to Expect On Your First Visit
You will be asked to fill out a confidential Health history form specific to
massage therapy. This will enable the therapist to complete an assessment and
develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs. Try to arrive at
least 10 minutes prior to your treatment time. If you are late you may not
receive your full treatment time.
The Treatment
Your massage will take place in a private room where you and the therapist
will work together for the session. Prior to the treatment an interview and
assessment will be done as part of the treatment. It is essential to
communicate during the treatment about any soreness, numbness or tingling you
may be experiencing. Your comfort level and safety are a primary concern.
Who Pays for Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy is not covered by OHIP. However most extended
health insurance plans provide partial or full coverage. This
usually requires a referral from a physician. It is your responsibility
to call your health provider to find out how much coverage you
have. You may also be able to save your receipts and apply them
towards your tax return as a medical expense.
