Dance Medicine
Dance, like any specialized activity, has specialized problems. In order to
provide optimal care for dancers, the medical professional must understand the
distinct needs of each dancer and the demands of dance.
Dance has many forms including ballet, tap, modern, jazz, highland, Irish,
lyrical, Spanish, ballroom. The list of dance disciplines is extensive, each
with its unique its demands.
At Pivot, our health care professionals understand the needs of each dance
form and the dancer. We are able to treat each dancer's injury keeping in mind
the technical demands, footwear concerns, and need for uninterrupted
training.
Our health care professionals work together as a team to offer the most
comprehensive treatment and to best suit the needs of each dancer to achieve a
return to optimal health.
Pivot has been involved in the care of professional and student dancers from
numerous Toronto dance studios, George Brown College, Ballet Jörgan Canada,
Ryerson University Dance program, Je Danse, York University, and The National
Ballet School.
